Bermagui Blessing
The Bermagui Blessing is held at Bermagui Fishermen’s Wharf
against the magnificent backdrop of the harbour and Mount Gulaga.
In previous years the service has been led by different members of
the local clergy, a particular favourite being the late Father
Barney Lynch.
Soloists and the Probus Men’s Choir lead the singing of the hymns.
Fishing boats are decorated with balloons and bunting and there is a
prize for the best decorated boat.
Street Parade
The Bermagui Seaside Fair Street Parade is one of the opening events
of the Fair. Locals and visitors alike thoroughly enjoy the
spectacle of a live parade with everyone getting into the atmosphere
of the Fair early in the day. Hundreds of spectators line both sides
of Bermagui’s main street to watch the kilometre-long parade …. a
colourful mix of groups, individuals, animals, vehicles and
musicians.
The parade provides a showcase of the town’s community and business
groups who dress up according to the ‘theme’ of the year. For each
parade, floats are decorated according to the theme and participants
range from the local SES and Rural Fire Service, the Bermagui Public
School and Pre-School, various district vintage car clubs, pony
clubs, sporting groups and local businesses.
In 2006 the street parade theme was ‘Seaside Living’. In 2007, to
commemorate the 10th Annual Bermagui Seaside Fair, the theme was
‘Celebrations!’. The theme in 2008 was ‘Love the life we live!’. In
2009 it was “Bermagui Bling – Let’s Shine” and the town sparkled
with glitter, tinsel and all manner of shiny things. The theme for
the 2010 Fair was “Bermagui: Proud of Our Place”. Reflecting
Bermagui’s fishing history and the multitude of activities to be
enjoyed on the beautiful waters in and around Bermagui, the theme
for 2011 was “Messin’ About in Boats”.
Just for the fun of it, the theme for the 2012 Bermagui Seaside Fair
is "Hey Hey It's Hat Day!".

Kids Entertainment &
Free Novelty Events
The kid’s entertainment program is a highlight of the Bermagui
Seaside Fair. A children’s show guaranteed to captivate and delight
both young and old is held around 11.00am on Dickinson Oval. There
are also free novelty events – such as three legged, egg and spoon
and sack races – which run all day after the street parade and every
child gets to choose and keep their favourite from a huge box of
stuffed toys.
And there’s lots more … the carnival, sandcastle competition, pet
pageant, helicopter rides, fireworks.
“Art in Place” Themed
Art Exhibition
A major attraction of the Seaside Fair is the “Art in Place” themed
art exhibition which provides local artists with the opportunity to
exhibit their works and the community with an opportunity to enjoy
and appraise it.
The 2012 exhibition will be held from Saturday 3rd to Saturday 10th
March at Shop 8 (upstairs), Bermagui Fishermen's Wharf. The theme is
"Bermagui Conversations" which has broad interpretation potential
and should produce some exciting and interesting work from
participating artists.
